What is PlanetMirror ? |
| A. |
PlanetMirror is an internet library of digital content. It provides high speed
access to opensource archives, document repositories, system and software patches,
drivers and applications and the latest in gaming demos. PM is one of the worlds
largest and most popular archives with over two Terabytes (2000 Gigabytes) of disk
space, pushing over a Terabyte of day of content into the Internet, or just over
half a Petabyte (500 Terabytes) since we launched in 2000. |
| Q. |
What is PlanetMirror Premium ? |
| A. |
PlanetMirror Premium provides subscribers with enhanced Quality of Service access to
the content on PM with separate servers, prioritised bandwidth and individual logins
to the PM archive. |
| Q. |
What are the benefits of PlanetMirror Premium ? |
| A. |
PlanetMirror Premium allows you to support your favourite projects and get faster
access to them. It does this by:
- using separate servers for premium HTTP and FTP logins
- premium subscribers don't have to compete with public users for cpu
and memory
- prioritising Premium downloads on the PlanetMirror network
- premium subscribers are allocated extra prioritised bandwidth over
public users
- providing users with an individual login to the archives
- premium users can always get a login via http/ftp avoid the limits
placed on the public access.
Planetmirror will also be using subscription revenue to help support the various
opensource and internet community related projects. |
| Q. |
Anything else ? |
| A. |
We are working on a number of projects to provide additional services and enhanced
functionality that will only be available to PlanetMirror Premium users. This includes an
archive update notification service as well as a better search engine interface.
If you have suggestions, please let us know. |
| Q. |
Can I request a mirror ? |
| A. |
Sure! If you have a suggestion for a popular archive which needs hosting or could
benefit from an Australian mirror, please let us know. We'll endeavour to add it
subject to the feasability of disk space and negotiating with the site owners. |

| A. |
Once you have registered, when you have logged in you will be transparently redirected

For Debian users, you can put your username and password along with a pointer to

doesn't support transparent redirection.
For FTP users you can simply use your PM username and password to login to
ftp://premium.ftp.planetmirror.com |
